Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remark at a meeting with visiting French MP Gerard Babetteon Tuesday in Tehran, where the two sides conferred on the latest status of bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation.
Amir-Abdollahian criticized the trend of categorizing terrorists into ‘good’ and ‘bad’, adding “terrorism has targeted all, and there is no such thing as a good terrorist. This term is nothing but a security joke.”
The French MP, for his part, deemed the logical positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on combating terrorism and finding a political solution for regional crises an indicative of the country’s realistic perspective on regional and international developments, and commended Iran for its effective role in fighting terrorism.
He went on to highlight the significance of parliamentary ties between the countries now further bolstered with the visit of the President of French National Assembly Claude Bartolone to Tehran, adding “the two countries’ cooperation in various fields, particularly in regard to parliamentary relations, is growing.”
During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian further outlined the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the developments in Libya, Iraq, Yemen and Bahrain.
The French parliamentary delegation headed by President of French National Assembly Claude Bartolone arrived in Tehran on September 5 for a four-day stay at the invitation of Iran’s Parliament speaker, Ali Larijani.
